With the concepts “Duplex”, by Mut Design for Sancal, and “Ernest”, by Borja García for Punt Mobles, the creators explore the idea of intimacy, suggesting a flourishing time and space in the midst of a troubled modern world. They provide a general sense of comfort, of subtle luxury, and a privileged proximity to the materials that forge enhanced emotional connections between the user and the object by reducing the visual noise.

Replication as beauty is used to reproduce a series of decorative motifs that allow new products to be covered with figures, designs, and adornments, repeating plentifully and boundlessly. The regular geometric grids create an almost ornamental aesthetic, helping to reduce visual pollution, generating a sense of harmony as a reaction to the digital world. The subtle luxury is paired with delicate textures that invite a comforting visual touch and interaction, creating areas of calm.

The concepts by Iratzoki Lizaso with “Lasso” for Omelette-ed; LaSelva studio & Lorena Ruisi with “Parquet roble Canaleto” for MH Parquets, and Arraitz Koch & Enrique Kahle with the “Cunningham” armchair for DVELAS, delve more deeply into repetition as communication within this extension of intimacy, using the textures that result from subtle intersections that offset the brightness and opacity of surfaces, in some cases surrounding them with a diffuse halo, not so much to beautify them, but rather to serialise finishing operations. This is why there is a focus on the expression of its character and ability to survive automation, the subtle unbalancing of the norm by a deviation from what is normal, an undeniable sign of the presence of the creator/artist.
